After 3 months of sending people messages the 9 books of the Pass the Page Collab are out! Over 70 artists came together to work on comics one page at a time while only being allowed to see the page before theirs, leading to a surreal, almost dreamlike end product.

I'm extremely pleased with how they all turned out and have some ideas for variants of the collab in the future!

You can check the finished comics out here:

Thanks to everyone who contributed and special thanks to people who came in clutch to replace the people that dropped out!

The Pass the Page Collab is going great, however, due to some participants dropping out, I have some open slots open!

So if you wanted to take part but missed the deadline, or if you're already in the collab but want to work on an additional page, now's your chance!

Here's a rundown of the rules:

  • Everyone will be assigned a random page in a random book.
  • I'll PM you the previous page that you'll be continuing the story from and a blank template page once it's your turn.
  • This will happen one page at a time, so don't worry if you're waiting for a while for your PM.
  • If you can't complete your page and would like to work on a later one in a different book or leave the Collab, let me know as soon as possible.
  • You will have 48 hours from when I message you to complete your page and PM it back to me.
  • Please make sure you're punctual, there will be people waiting on you to finish your page.
  • Your page has to be a 600x800 pixel PNG file.
  • Feel free to use your own art style and flair on your page, even if it's different to the one before you. Color, black and white, different mediums, everything is welcome.
  • The only real requirement is that you continue the story from the previous page.
  • Don't talk about or share your page. The Collab is about surprises and the other collaborators having more context ruins the fun.
  • I also won't give you any more context than the page I send you and what page number yours will be.
  • Once everyone's pages are in I will assemble and upload them to the art portal as comics with everyone set as a collaborator.
  • He's some physical versions of the Collab from last year's TMG meetup if you'd like to get a better idea of what the completed comics will look like: https://www.newgrounds.com/playlist/411157/tmg-2024-comic-game-comics

Reply below if interested! If selected you should get a PM within the next week or two, so be prepared! Unfortunately, I can't guarantee you a spot if you sign up.

Hey everyone!

The sign-ups for the Pass the Page Collab end tonight at midnight EST, so if you wanted to jump in, there's still time! The number of applicants so far has been far beyond my expectations and I can't wait to see what everyone makes!

I also wanted to explain how the Collab will work so everyone participating knows what to expect:

Whenever my friends and I hang out, we like to play this fun game where we draw a comic together one page at a time. The twist is you can only look at the page before yours, giving you no context for the rest of the story and allowing the narrative to go in hilarious, unexpected directions.

If you'd like to see some examples, I played the game with a ton of people during the Too Many Games 2024 meetup:

I've always thought the game would work extremely well online, so I've decided to start The Pass the Page Comic Collab!

How It'll Work:

  • Who does what page will be decided in a random order
  • When it's your turn I will message you and ask if you're free to complete a page
  • After you agree I will send you both a comic page and a blank template
  • Continue the story from where the comic page left off
  • Message your completed page back to me within 48 hours

Specifications:

  • 600x800 pixel PNG
  • Any skill level, style, and medium welcome
  • You can sign your Newgrounds account name on the page or remain anonymous
  • 18+ only, as the humor can get kind of raunchy

Once completed, I will upload the assembled comic to the art portal. I will add you onto the submission as a collaborator by default, so if you'd like to remain uncredited, let me know.

The sign up deadline is January 16th at 11:59 PM EST (just over 2 weeks from now). I'm hoping to actually start the collab on January 17th.

Back in late June I had the pleasure of attending Too Many Games 2024 and the Newgrounds meetup. I had a great time, showed off the game me and my friends have been working on, and got to meet a ton of cool and talented people

Being surrounded by artists, I decided to have as many people as I could participate in a fun game me and my friends play whenever we hang out:

The Comic Game!

You fold a piece of paper into a book and take turns drawing a comic one page per person. The twist is each person can only look at the page before it, leading to crazy narratives that go all over the place

Now after putting it off for months because I've been both busy and lazy, I finally got all the pages scanned and uploaded and they're even more fucked up than I remembered (in a good way):

Later That Day

Professor Pointer!

Spinalpalm and the Big Bubbling Butt

The Wizard

BALLSSSSSSSSSSSS (NSFW)

Behold... (NSFW)

His First Word! (NSFW)

Grumby's Big Day (NSFW)

Thanks to everyone who participated! Can't wait to go up to Philly again and do more of these. Not all of the pages were signed, so if you did one (and want credit), feel free to reach out

If you'd like to play the game yourself but need learn how to fold the paper into books, Instructables has a handy guide here
